October 15, 2018

Castings and steel components make Maschinenfabrik Liezen und Gießerei one of the most important domestic railway suppliers. Now this well-established enterprise from Upper Styria wants to globally expand with innovative rail milling equipment. Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) will be the technological partner and CEO Andreas Matthä will personally pay a visit to the company.

MFL generates approximately one third of its sales (100 million €) in the field railway traffic technology. The largest share of this comprises high-precision castings and welded assembly groups Liezen supplies the “Who-is-who“ of the international railway supply industry such as Siemens, Bombardier and Stadler with. About three fourths of the products go to the global marketplace where the-enterprise with its 800 employees wants to succeed with innovative rail milling equipment as well: ”Especially in the high-speed range, railway traffic routes are exposed to ever more complex requirements. Due to our excellent milling technology, the working life of these tracks can be considerably increased. This means more cost-efficiency, increased safety and reduced noise”, says MFL Managing Director Herbert Decker.
