MFL focuses on occupational safety even with apprentices

March 01, 2022

"Safety First": under this motto, MFL is breaking new ground in order to maximise the prevention of occupational accidents already among apprentices. At the Safety Day for Apprentices, the leading Ennstal company further increased awareness of dangers and taught the safe handling of tools and machines "in a completely different way".

"For sure, it should be fun," says Herbert Decker with a twinkle in his eye. With this ambiguous message, the MFL Managing Director hits the nail on the head of the recent Apprentice Safety Day: with special challenges at various topical stations and exciting lectures, the apprentices - with the support of their own department for occupational safety and the General Accident Insurance Institution (AUVA) - were taught important safety topics in a totally different way. "The right actions and awareness of hazards massively strengthens safety in the workplace. That's why we already start with our youngest employees in order to exclude potential dangers as much as possible", explains the managing director. For example, the correct wearing of protective equipment or the safe operation of machines and tools are "central safety factors, the importance of which we were able to convey very well during the event", emphasises Decker. In any case, the MFL apprentices not only acquired new knowledge through the event, but also quite a few prizes: the winners were awarded prizes by the Liezen management and Herbert Köberl-Obermeyr, head of the apprenticeship workshop. By the way, first and second place were won by two of the technically skilled young ladies.
